Almost everything worth saying about dice follows from one small grid. Drawing it once by hand is worth more than reading a dozen tables of probabilities.

Two wheel layouts have been in circulation for well over a century, differing by a single pocket. That one pocket is a larger difference than it looks.

Dice are among the oldest manufactured objects that survive in quantity, and their history is a long argument about how to make an object behave unpredictably on purpose.
